أُقيمت قرعة البطولة العربية رجال بحضور نائب رئيس الاتحاد العربي، العميد عبد الله شلبي أمين عام الاتحاد العربي لكرة السلة، ومدير عام الاتحاد العربي لكرة السلة شريف أحمد زكي، حيث قام الاتحاد العربي بتقسيم الفرق إلى 4 مجموعات وتضم كل مجموعة 4 فرق مع وضع مستضيف البطولة على رأس المجموعة الأولى بينما تم وضع حامل اللقب على رأس المجموعة الثانية مع مراعاة عدم تواجد أكثر من فريق من نفس الدولة في مجموعة واحدة.
المجموعة الأولى :
الكويت الرياضي- الاتحاد السكندري- أهلي حلب السوري- أهلي بني غازي.
المجموعة الثانية :
الأهلي المصري- الرياضي اللبناني- الغرافة القطري- الميناء اليمني.
المجموعة الثالثة :
الأهلي البحريني- البشائر الرياضي العماني- كاظمة الرياضي- السد القطري.
المجموعة الرابعة :
الجهراء الرياضي- بيروت اللبناني- وداد بوفاريك الجزائري- دجلة الجامعة العراقي
الملاحظ هو غياب المشاركة المغربية ليبقى السؤال المطروح عن سبب الغياب المتكرر للاندية المغربية لكرة السلة في التظاهرات الخارجة
