حسم منتخب السنغال تأهله لثمن نهائي مونديال قطر 2022 ، بالفوز (2-1) ضد الإكوادور ، مساء اليوم الثلاثاء 29 نونبر 2022 ، على ارضية ملعب خليفة الدولي في الجولة الختامية لدور المجموعات وسجل للسنغال إسماعيلا سار من ركلة جزاء في الدقيقة 44 وكاليدو كوليبالي في الدقيقة 70 ، بينما سجل للإكوادور مويسيس كايسيدو في الدقيقة 68 وبهذا الانتصار رفع المنتخب السنغالي رصيده إلى 6 نقاط ، في وصافة المجموعة الأولى ليرافق المتصدر المنتخب الهولندي صاحب 7 نقاط ، بينما تجمد رصيد الإكوادور عند 4 نقاط في المركز الثالث ليودع البطولة رفقة قطر صاحبة الارض والجمهور حيث لقي العنابي هزيمة ثالثة أمام الطواحن الهولندية بحصة (2/0).
وعودة لمباراة السنغال والاكوادور بدأت المباراة بضغط من منتخب أسود الطيرانغا ، وسدد إدريسا جانا جايي كرة من داخل منطقة الجزاء ، مرت بجانب القائم الأيسر في الدقيقة 2 وصوب ألفريد ندياي لاعب السنغال كرة قوية من خارج المنطقة ، لكنها مرت بعيدا في الدقيقة 11 وتلقى ديالو لاعب منتخب السنغال كرة عرضية داخل المنطقة ، وسدد رأسية أمسك بها بسهولة هيرنان جالينديز حارس مرمى الإكوادور في الدقيقة 24 واستقبل إسماعيلا سار كرة عرضية في منطقة جزاء الإكوادور ، وصوب لكن كرته مرت أعلى العارضة في الدقيقة 36 واحتسب حكم المباراة ركلة جزاء للسنغال في الدقيقة 43 ، إثر وجود التحام بين هيناكبي وإسماعيلا سار ، وانبرى لها الأخير ووضعها داخل الشباك معلنا تقدم أسود الطيرانغا لينتهي الشوط الأول بتفوق السنغال بحصة (0/1).
ومع بداية الشوط الثاني ، سدد البديل سيفوينتس لاعب الإكوادور كرة من خارج المنطقة ، أمسك بها الحارس السنغالي ميندي بسهولة ونجح مويسيس كايسيدو في تسجيل هدف التعادل لإكوادور في الدقيقة 68 ، بعد ركلة ركنية وصلت داخل المنطقة إلى فيليكس توريس الذي حاول التسديد، لكن الكرة وصلت إلى كايسيدو الخالي تماما من الرقابة ليضعها في الشباك بسهولة وجاء الرد سريعا من السنغال ، بعد دقيقتين فقط ، حيث أعاد القائد كاليدو كوليبالي التقدم للسنغال مجددا بتسديدة من داخل منطقة الجزاء في شباك الإكوادور بعد استغلاله لخطأ دفاعي وواصل منتخب السنغال سيطرته بعد الهدف ، وسدد بولايا ديا كرة من داخل منطقة جزاء الإكوادور ، مرت بمحاذاة القائم الأيسر في الدقيقة 82 ونجح لاعبو السنغال في الحفاظ على تقدمهم ، وسط استحواذ من لاعبي الإكوادور خلال الدقائق المتبقية من المباراة ، ليؤمنوا عبورهم للدور الثاني من البطولة.
